King's College Hospital in South East London has received a national award for its commitment to patients living with incurable blood cancer.

National recognition for myeloma patient care

King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has been presented with the Myeloma UK Clinical Service Excellence Programme (CSEP) Award. This award recognises outstanding care and dedication to people with myeloma. Myeloma is an incurable blood cancer that claims the lives of 3,000 people in the UK each year.

The hospital's staff were praised for their efforts to improve patients' quality of life. They were also commended for their eagerness to listen to patient needs. The accolade was awarded by blood cancer charity Myeloma UK.

Dr Stella Bowcock, Dr Kirsty Cuthill and Dr Arief Gunawan, Consultant Haematologists at King's, stated: "Our teams at the Trust are delighted to receive the Clinical Service Excellence Programme awards from Myeloma UK with an overall score of ‘excellent’ for both sites."
