Eddie Kadi returns to Kingston University to share secrets of confidence and identity

May 5, 2026

Ever wondered what it takes to be truly confident? Comedian and Kingston University graduate Eddie Kadi has revealed the secret, and it all started at his old university.

Jungle Lessons in Authenticity

The British-Congolese star, who recently wowed audiences on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here, returned to Kingston University to share his journey. He spoke about how being your genuine self is the ultimate key to success.

Kadi, who graduated from Kingston University in 2004, told students that there's no room for faking it when the cameras are always on. "The best version of you is the real one," he shared. He emphasised that his time in the jungle reinforced the importance of authenticity, as the environment strips away any pretences.

From Fulham to Fame

Growing up in Fulham, education was a huge deal for Kadi's parents. They always stressed the importance of university as a foundation for his future.

"Education was everything," Kadi explained. "It was always made clear that university wasn’t optional". This upbringing instilled a drive that carried him through his media and communications studies and into the entertainment industry.

Finding Your Tribe and Your Voice

Moving into student accommodation at Clayhill was a game-changer for Kadi. It was there he truly found his university experience, moving beyond just attending lectures.

He said, "When I moved into halls, that’s when my university experience really began". Building friendships in common rooms helped him understand what university was all about—collaboration and shared growth.

His involvement with the African and Caribbean Society (ACS) was also vital. It provided a safe space for honest conversations about identity and helped him find his comedic voice within his cultural heritage.

Embrace the Mistakes

Kadi encouraged current students to be brave and curious. He stressed that making mistakes is not a failure, but a necessary part of the growth process.

"Make the mistakes, be curious and don’t be afraid of the unknown," he advised. "That’s how you discover who you are".

Confidence, he added, comes from a cycle of trying new things, learning from the outcomes, and discovering what brings you genuine joy.
