Bexley Council has announced upcoming temporary road closures and waiting restrictions in Erith, South East London, to facilitate essential highway improvement works. The notices, issued on 22 April 2026, detail disruptions affecting Hind Crescent and Park Crescent.
Works are scheduled to commence on Hind Crescent from 6 May 2026, with a prohibition of traffic between the junctions of Park Crescent and Avenue Road. Additionally, a waiting and loading prohibition will be in place along this section of Hind Crescent. The works are expected to last for approximately eight days, though the order is valid for 18 months. Alternative routes will be signposted, directing traffic via Avenue Road, Bexley Road, and Park Crescent.
Park Crescent will experience a road closure from outside number 234 to the junction with Bexley Road, commencing on 4 May 2026. Parking restrictions, including no waiting and no loading, will also be implemented in this area. These works are anticipated to be completed within three days, with the order remaining in effect for 18 months. Diversions will be in place and signposted as necessary.
The council contractor is undertaking these works on behalf of the London Borough of Bexley. The restrictions are being implemented under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. Emergency service vehicles and those involved in the works will be exempt from the restrictions.
In addition to the roadworks, Bexley Council has also issued an invitation to tender for a Building Services Framework, covering Lots 1-11. Interested parties can obtain application details by visiting the London Tenders website or by emailing procurement@bexley.gov.uk, quoting reference number 6278. The expression of interest closing date is 15 May 2026.
