Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Excellence Awards sees South London Trust triumph in regional categories.

Evelina London's CHILDS System Wins 'Neighbourhood Health' Award

Two initiatives from Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust have been named regional champions in the first NHS Excellence Awards. Evelina London’s child health integrated learning and delivery system (CHILDS) secured the London regional champion title for the ‘Neighbourhood health’ award.

The CHILDS model has been developed over a decade by Evelina London colleagues and partners. It employs a population-health informed approach to improve outcomes for children and young people, including those with long-term conditions.

CHILDS provides tools and methods for proportionate universal care and aims to reduce inequalities. It proactively uses NHS data and advanced analytics to identify children needing early intervention.

Eleanor Wyllie, CHILDS programme manager, stated: “We’re delighted to have been selected as a regional champion, and hugely proud that materials developed by CHILDS have been shared within south east London, regionally and nationally, to support adoption of this model more widely.”

Kofoworola Abeni Pratt Fellowship Wins 'Valuing Our People' Award

The Trust’s Kofoworola Abeni Pratt Fellowship was awarded the London regional champion title for the ‘Valuing our people’ award. Launched in 2021, the Fellowship honours the first Black nurse to graduate from the Nightingale School of Nursing.

The programme addresses the gap in senior leaders from global majority backgrounds. It offers nurses, midwives, and allied health professionals a unique opportunity to lead organisational projects.

Róisín Fitzsimons, Deputy Director of Nursing for Culture and Strategy, commented: “We’re so proud to be recognised for this unique, immersive, leadership development opportunity. It’s really making a difference in helping us to address the racial and ethnic disparities that we know affect career progression within the organisation.”

The regional champions have been invited to the NHS Excellence Awards ceremony on Wednesday 10 June in Manchester.
