The Brixton North Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT) hit the streets yesterday, 20 April 2026, conducting reassurance patrols across Max Roach Park and the SW9 Estate. These targeted deployments are designed to provide a visible presence and tackle rising concerns over anti-social behaviour (ASB) in the local area.
Max Roach Park, a key community hub located on Villa Road, has been the focus of recent local improvements, including a £46,000 playground revamp funded by Section 106 contributions. However, the area remains a priority for the SNT. Recent data for the Lambeth borough shows that anti-social behaviour remains a significant challenge, making up approximately 20.6% of all reported crimes in the region as of March 2026.
The patrols extended into the SW9 Estate, where officers have also been conducting joint outreach work with the Lambeth Outreach Team to support vulnerable individuals and rough sleepers. By maintaining a high-visibility presence, the Metropolitan Police aim to deter opportunistic crime and provide reassurance to residents living near the Brixton Windrush and Stockwell borders.
Local residents are encouraged to share their safety concerns directly with the team during upcoming engagement events. A "Cuppa with a Coppa" session is scheduled for Friday, 1 May 2026, at O Cantinho De Portugal on Stockwell Road, offering a chance for informal discussion with ward officers.
The team also confirmed that the Brixton North Ward Safer Neighbourhood Panel will meet on 22 April 2026 at 25 Robsart Street to discuss current crime trends and public safety matters, including feedback from the Friends of Max Roach Park group. Reporting incidents via 101 or the Met Engage portal remains vital for the force to build a clear picture of local issues and allocate patrol resources effectively.
