
A dramatic fire ripped through a Battersea tower block last night, forcing dozens of firefighters to battle the inferno. The blaze broke out on the seventh floor of a ten-storey building on Charlotte Despard Avenue.
Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters were scrambled to the scene. The incident began at approximately 6:46 PM. At its peak, most of a seventh-floor flat was alight.
One of the London Fire Brigade's 32-metre turntable ladders was deployed. This allowed crews to tackle the fire from above. Control Officers received over 20 calls reporting the incident.
Crews from Battersea, Clapham, Lambeth, and surrounding stations worked tirelessly. The fire was brought under control by 8:26 PM. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
