Four fire engines and approximately 25 firefighters were mobilised to the incident on Saturday afternoon. The fire, which broke out in a three-roomed flat on the first floor of a seven-storey building, caused extensive damage. The flat itself was mostly destroyed by the fire.

A communal staircase on the first and second floors also suffered full destruction. Thankfully, all 30 residents managed to leave the building before the London Fire Brigade arrived. The Brigade received the call at 13:32 and had the fire under control by 17:17.

Crews from West Norwood, Croydon, and Norbury fire stations were in attendance. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the authorities.
