Bexley Council has published a series of public notices for July 2026, informing residents of upcoming temporary traffic restrictions and planning applications across the borough. These notices detail essential information for those living or travelling through affected areas.

Temporary Road Closures and Restrictions

Several roads in Bexley will experience temporary traffic restrictions to facilitate essential works. Gresham Close in Bexley will be subject to a full road closure and parking restrictions from 13 July 2026 to allow for mains replacement by M Group Water on behalf of Thames Water. While the works are expected to take 71 days, access for residents and emergency vehicles will be maintained.

Kentish Road in Belvedere will also see traffic prohibition and parking restrictions between Abbey Crescent and Orchard Road, commencing 13 July 2026, for water main installation by M Group Water. Alternative routes will be signposted, and the works are anticipated to last 29 days.

Highway improvement works by a council contractor will lead to northbound traffic prohibition and waiting restrictions on North Cray Road, Bexley, from 6 July 2026. These overnight works, scheduled between 7 PM and 2 AM, are expected to be completed within six days.

Camden Road, North Glade, and South Glade in Bexley will experience traffic and pedestrian walkway closures from 6 July 2026 for a welfare unit placement by JDT Utilities for Southern Gas Networks. These works are scheduled to last approximately four weeks, with diversions in place.

Blendon Road, Bexley, will be closed from outside number 141 up to the roundabout at Kestlake Road from 2 July 2026 for highway improvement works. The restrictions are expected to be completed within two days, with extensive alternative routes provided.

The Spinney in Sidcup will face full-length traffic prohibition and parking restrictions from 2 July 2026 for mains replacement by MGroup Water. These works are scheduled to take 12 weeks, with no alternative routes provided, though access for residents and emergency vehicles will be maintained.

Planning Application Notifications

In addition to roadworks, the council has issued notifications for planning applications. An application has been submitted for a change of use at 19 Station Road, Sidcup, within the Christ Church Conservation Area. The proposal seeks to change the ground floor from a social club/bar to commercial use. Members of the public can view the application and submit observations online, quoting reference 26/01230/FUL, within 21 days of the notice date.

Furthermore, an application has been made under Section 73 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 at 3 Mill Row, Bexley High Street, within the Old Bexley (1971) Conservation Area. This application seeks to vary condition 1 of a previous planning permission to extend the opening hours for a wine bar/cafe. Details of the application and how to make representations are available for public inspection.
