Lee Green shoplifting suspect arrested after proactive patrols

Residents in Lee Green, South East London, have seen a proactive police operation lead to the arrest of a man wanted for a string of offences, including shoplifting. Officers from the Lee Green Safer Neighbourhood Team made the arrest during routine foot patrols.

Lee Green Man Arrested for Multiple Offences

The male, who was known to be targeting local businesses across Lee Green and Downham, was apprehended by officers. He was wanted for multiple offences. These included theft from shops, breach of a court order, and assault on a police officer. The suspect is currently in police custody. He is awaiting his appearance before the courts on Monday.

The Metropolitan Police stated: "You raised shoplifting as a concern, so here’s a quick local update. While carrying out proactive foot patrols in the Lee Green area, officers from the Lee Green Safer Neighbourhood Team identified a male known to be targeting local businesses across Lee Green and Downham. The male was wanted for multiple offences, including theft from shops, breach of a court order, and assault on a police officer. The male was arrested and remains in police custody, where he is awaiting his appearance before the courts on Monday. We will continue to carry out high-visibility patrols and target those involved in criminal activity to help keep our neighbourhoods safe."
