Waterloo Ice Cream Van Seized After Dangerous Driving

August 25, 2026

Residents in Waterloo have seen police take firm action against an ice cream van vendor whose actions posed a danger to the public. The Metropolitan Police have confirmed the vehicle was seized following a dangerous driving incident.

Dangerous Driving on Belvedere Road

On Sunday 23rd August, local Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) officers from Waterloo & Southbank witnessed an ice cream van vendor drive onto the public footpath on Belvedere Road. This dangerous driving offence, combined with trading without a licence, led to officers seizing the vehicle. The vendor was also issued with a community protection warning.

Waterloo Safety and Anti-Social Behaviour

The Metropolitan Police remain committed to addressing issues that impact the safe use of public spaces for residents and local businesses. In the London Borough of Lambeth—which includes Waterloo—annual crime tracking figures from the Metropolitan Police and the Office for National Statistics (ONS) record an overall crime rate of approximately 103 to 111 offences per 1,000 residents, with over 37,000 total crimes reported across the borough footprint each year. Anti-social behaviour, public order offences, and street-level thefts remain key focus areas for neighbourhood policing teams, particularly around major transit hubs like Waterloo Station.

Official advice from the Metropolitan Police for dealing with anti-social behaviour includes reporting incidents via the 101 non-emergency number or online. For immediate danger, always call 999.
